St. Kilian Distillers present four new products at the first online whisky tasting of 2024

St. Kilian invites whisky lovers and connoisseurs to the first online whisky tasting of 2024. On Saturday, March 9th, at 7 PM, the experimental distillery will unveil four exciting new products and provide exclusive insights into the fascinating world of whisky.
The line-up includes eight tasting samples, among them the eagerly awaited first unpeated bottling of the Whisky Solera by St. Kilian series. Following the impressive success of the first peated Solera bottling, participants can now look forward to the milder continuation from the complex, cascade-like maturation system.
Furthermore, the new St. Kilian Small Batch series will premiere with a mild and a peated single malt whisky. The bottlings in this series are characterized by the marriage of a few selected casks, which have proven to be particularly intense and aromatic during regular tastings.
The line-up is rounded off with an exclusive single cask bottling at cask strength, two current Signature Editions, and the core range bottling St. Kilian Peated. The grand finale is the popular ADVOCAAT egg liqueur – Made with Single Malt Whisky.
Live from the stillhouse in Rüdenau, Lower Franconia, the four St. Kilian experts – Master Distiller and Blender Mario Rudolf, Whisky Connoisseur Dr. Heinz Weinberger, Director of Communication Andreas Kreser, and Brand Ambassador Olli Fink – will guide participants through this unique tasting experience.
Until March 3, 2024, lovers of fine spirits can secure their spot and conveniently order the exclusive tasting sets with the outstanding line-up online or purchase them directly at the visitor distillery's shop.
The St. Kilian new products for the online whisky tasting in detail
Whisky Solera by St. Kilian – Unpeated (limited to 750 bottles): The first unpeated bottling of the Whisky Solera by St. Kilian series went through all three stages of the St. Kilian Solera system, with the final maturation stage consisting exclusively of Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. The row of casks above it, the 1st Criadera, consists of barrique casks that were previously filled with medium sherry, made exclusively from Pedro Ximénez grapes. The top row of casks, the 2nd Criadera, consists of the finest Manzanilla sherry casks filled with mild whisky that has matured in fresh American white oak casks. This limited, five-year-old special bottling from the complex, cascade-like maturation system, known for sherry from Andalusia and adapted for single malt whisky in Rüdenau, promises a unique taste experience.

The intensely fragrant bouquet of ripe sherry harmonizes with notes of dark dried fruits such as plums, dates, and raisins, finally rounded off by delicious walnut aromas.
Taste
The rich sweetness of aged sherry, plums, raisins, and Seville oranges is accompanied by ripe walnuts and perfectly harmonizes with the emerging warming mélange of oak spice and fine dark chocolate.
Finish
The creamy aromas of sherry, raisins, and Seville oranges coated in dark chocolate linger very long, along with subtly dry oak notes and slightly bitter walnut tones.

St. Kilian Small Batch – Unpeated (limited to 615 bottles): The foundation for this mild single malt whisky was a Pedro Ximénez Sherry Butt. Due to a leakage, the one-year-old spirit was divided into three ex-Bourbon casks of various sizes and matured for another four years. This represents one of the rare examples of "Double Maturation" at St. Kilian.

Finish
The warming and creamy mélange of sultanas and subtle vanilla lingers long with dark chocolate and slightly dry oak tones.

St. Kilian Small Batch – Peated (limited to 455 bottles): For this smoky single malt whisky, three 95-liter casks made of fresh Hungarian oak from the renowned cooperage Dolium were selected. Before filling, they were medium-toasted inside and milled to increase the surface area. After five years of maturation, the bottling is not only characterized by its dark color but also reveals complex, dark fruit aromas with a creamy-dry sweetness. In combination with the delicate peat smoke, this creates a wonderfully warming mouthfeel.

The sweet scent of plums and sultanas combines with fine peat smoke, subtly bitter orange tones, and a hint of malt to create a fruity complexity, rounded off by aromatic oak wood with a pinch of herbs.
Taste
The powerful and warming fruit sweetness of plums, creamy sultanas, and Seville oranges is complemented by a hint of malt with a pinch of mint and perfectly enveloped by subtle oak notes with delicate peat smoke.
Finish
The long-lasting presence of aromatic wood tones, dry dark chocolate, and a hint of peat smoke is joined by plum jam and creamy sultanas, adding a velvety texture.

Single Cask Single Malt Whisky – ex Bourbon Four Roses Cask (limited to 283 bottles): The special feature of this almost five-year-old single cask bottling lies in the mashbill used for the production of the mild New Make. The tried and tested Pilsner malt was blended with equal parts of the stronger specialty malt Munich Malt Type II and the darker caramel malt Caramünch® Type II. This balanced blend gives the single malt whisky a pronounced caramel taste, which perfectly combines with the vanilla sweetness and toffee notes of the ex-Bourbon cask from the Four Roses distillery.

Behind the sweet notes of toffee, caramel, delicate bread crust, and vanilla, bright fruit aromas of green apple and ripe pear unfold, accompanied by a hint of dark chocolate and fresh mint.

The sweet start with aromas of toffee, caramel, and vanilla is complemented by subtle, bright fruit notes, delicate milk chocolate, and malty nuances, rounded off by a hint of spicy oak.
Finish
The warming mélange of caramel notes, bread crust, and fine dark chocolate lingers long with a hint of oak wood.
