Category Winner and Gold in London - St. Kilian Whiskies receive a total of eleven awards
Rüdenau, February 2024
The experimental German whisky distillery St. Kilian Distillers seamlessly follows up on its successful year in 2023. At the World Whiskies Awards in London, the renowned international competition honoring the world's best whiskies for taste and design, the distillery from Lower Franconia received four gold medals, six silver medals, and one bronze medal. This outstanding success not only underscores the consistently excellent quality of St. Kilian whiskies but also the impressive diversity and high innovative strength that the company from Rüdenau has brought to the world of whisky since its founding in 2012 and the start of production in March 2016.
Among the outstanding winners are the "Signature Edition THIRTEEN" single malt whisky, the ultra-heavily peated Heavy Metal Edition "Judas Priest – Ram it Down," and the first release of the innovative series "Whisky Solera by St. Kilian – Peated." These bottlings were each awarded the highest honor as Category Winner and a gold medal. Managing Director Philipp Trützler expressed his enthusiasm about the renewed success: "The recognition from the World Whiskies Awards is a confirmation of our passion, tradition, and innovative spirit. With these excellent awards, we feel strengthened in our pursuit of the highest quality and unique taste. We are very pleased and proud that our products convince in international competition with the best distilleries."
All other whiskies submitted by St. Kilian Distillers also received excellent ratings from the international jury of experts.

Initiator Mario Rudolf is particularly delighted about the gold medal and the simultaneous award as Category Winner for the first bottling from the "Whisky Solera by St. Kilian – Peated" series. "I am very proud that years ago we pondered how to adapt a sherry Solera system for single malt whisky. The way we are doing it now, with a peated and an unpeated version, is probably unique in the whisky world in terms of its systematics. That the first bottling is so positively received is a great success for the entire team," says the Master Blender. Together with Master Distiller Zoltán Fódi, Rudolf started the Whisky Solera at St. Kilian several years ago, which will be completed in about 10 years. Whisky lovers and fans of the distillery have the unique opportunity with the annual bottlings from the Whisky Solera by St. Kilian to follow the development of a German single malt whisky in a cascade-like maturation process.
Successful Heavy Metal Collaborations
Some of the awarded single malt whiskies from St. Kilian's Heavy Metal series were created in close collaboration with iconic British heavy metal pioneers Judas Priest and German metal giants Grave Digger. The Heavy Metal bottlings are characterized by powerful and intense aromas. These whiskies represent the result of careful maturation and exhibit complex flavor profiles that reflect the unique character of both metal bands.
Award-winning bottlings available
With the exception of the category winners "Whisky Solera by St. Kilian – Peated" and "Judas Priest – Ram it Down", all awarded St. Kilian whiskies are available in the online shop, in the visitor distillery in Rüdenau, and from specialist retailers.
