Statement: St. Kilian is bringing whisky to the moon

For St. Kilian Distillers, a whisky from Lower Franconia becoming part of a lunar mission is an extraordinary and emotional moment. Our participation in the Lunar-Delight Mission fills us with great joy, respect, and gratitude.

This special project was initiated by the mission's co-organizer, who has been closely connected with our distillery for many years and even has a cask maturing at St. Kilian. His conviction that "whisky made in Germany" is internationally competitive and embodies the highest quality led to the idea of taking a St. Kilian whisky on this unique journey. We interpret his deliberate approach to our distillery as a great sign of trust and recognition of our work.

Our reaction was accordingly clear: enthusiasm, pride, and sincere gratitude. For the entire team at St. Kilian Distillers, this "nomination" is something very special. It shows that handcrafted whisky from Rüdenau is not only regionally rooted but also attracts international—and in this case, even extraterrestrial—attention.

A single malt whisky from the co-organizer's personal cask, which is maturing at St. Kilian Distillers, will be sent to the moon. The whisky matured in a former bourbon cask from the Texan Garrison Brothers Distillery, thus combining Franconian distilling art with American cask character. It is an expressive, aged single malt that symbolically represents our philosophy: uncompromising quality, openness to international influences, and the courage to break new ground.

For us, the Lunar-Delight Mission is not a marketing gimmick, but a special story that shows how far passion, trust, and artisanal conviction can reach. We consider the fact that a St. Kilian whisky is part of this project an accolade for the entire team, for our partners, and for the idea that excellent whisky no longer has to come exclusively from classic countries of origin.

A whisky from Lower Franconia on its way to the moon – for us, this is a moment that evokes both humility and pride, and one we will not soon forget.
