Exclusive Mizunara full maturation, limited new releases, and popular classics in the lineup

On German Unity Day - Friday, October 3, 2025, at 7:00 PM - St. Kilian Distillers invites whisky fans to a special online tasting. Under the motto "The Sun of Japan in a Glass," participants can look forward to an enjoyable autumn evening with eight carefully selected samples, including four high-profile new releases that impressively demonstrate the diversity of the German whisky distillery.

The highlight is a rare, soft peated Mizunara full maturation from an exceptional single cask. With this gently smoky single malt whisky, St. Kilian continues its successful Exceptional Range. The noble virgin cask made from the extremely rare, approximately 250-year-old Japanese oak gives the whisky a distinctive aroma profile of fine woods, ripe fruits, and spicy complexity. Following the previously released unpeated and peated Mizunara full maturations, this is the last bottling from an unoccupied Mizunara single cask for now. This rarity combines Far Eastern finesse with German distilling artistry, delighting connoisseurs and collectors alike.

In addition, participants can look forward to three further premieres: Also exclusively presented is the special edition Scorpions Crazy World, a tribute to the band's 11th studio album and the world-famous anthem Wind of Change – fitting for the 35th anniversary of German reunification – which combines enjoyment and passion with a characterful whisky. After a successful start in spring, the Whisky Bunker AG series continues promisingly with its second bottling. Added to this is the brand new Signature Edition SIXTEEN, inspired by the warm aromas of Portugal and characterized by Mediterranean lightness.

The lineup is rounded off by popular classics: the mild-fruity St. Kilian CLASSIC, the rock 'n' roll Scorpions Rock Believer bottling, the smoky Signature Edition FIFTEEN, and the creamy-sweet St. Kilian Cream liqueur, which elegantly concludes the tasting.

The event will be broadcast live from the distillery in Rüdenau, Lower Franconia, and entertainingly moderated by founder and managing director Andreas Thümmler, Master Distiller Mario Rudolf, and Brand Ambassador Christoph Albietz. Together, the St. Kilian experts will provide exciting insights into the world of distillation, maturation, and creative single malt whiskies.

The St. Kilian New Releases for the Online Whisky Tasting in Detail:

Exceptional Range Mizunara – Soft Peated (only 304 bottles available): This exceptional Mizunara single cask bottling from the St. Kilian Exceptional Range is a gently smoky single malt whisky of the exclusive series, reserved for the masterpieces of the German distillery. This high-quality rarity is presented in a decoratively designed and iconic 0.5 liter pot still bottle and complemented by elegant packaging that emphasizes its uniqueness and exclusivity. Over five years of maturation in a fresh, previously unused 225-liter Mizunara oak cask create a complex interplay of aromas, where gentle peat smoke meets ripe fruit aromas of pear, apricot, and plum, while creamy vanilla, fine spice notes, and a hint of sandalwood round off the elegant character. Following the previously released unpeated and peated Mizunara full maturations, this bottling represents the last from a Virgin Mizunara single cask for now.

Gentle peat smoke harmoniously combines with ripe pears, apricots, and plums, underpinned by vanilla, a hint of eucalyptus, earthy nuances, and a subtle touch of oriental spices.

Taste
Complex and balanced with creamy fruit sweetness of pear, melon, and plum, accompanied by warming spices, a hint of black pepper and gentle peat smoke, finely balanced by vanilla cream, delicate herbal notes, some caramel, and a touch of sandalwood.

Finish
The sweet melange of fruit jam, creamy caramel, and delicate herbs lingers elegantly and long, accompanied by mild-warming wood tones and a hint of dry ash.

Scorpions Crazy World – Unpeated (only 1,545 bottles available): A whisky like an anthem – matured in fine ex-brandy casks as well as fresh oak and chestnut casks. A powerful composition where German distilling artistry meets the elegant warmth of brandy and the distinctive spice of fresh woods. Fruity sweetness, velvety wood notes, and a hint of Mediterranean lightness merge with delicate oak spice to create an expressive character. Complex, melodic, and full of intensity. A whisky that, like the legendary album, celebrates the power and harmony of German music history and, fittingly for the 35th anniversary of German Unity, embodies a piece of timeless memory.

Whisky Bunker Reserve 2025 – Peated (only 315 bottles available): With the second limited bottling, Whisky Bunker AG impressively continues its promising series. This single malt whisky combines a fruit-driven aroma profile with gentle peat smoke and a finely spicy depth. Ripe fruits, sweet accents, and delicate herbal notes unfold harmoniously before the enjoyment fades into elegant wood and smoke echoes. Like all bottlings from Whisky Bunker AG, this whisky also matured for years in selected casks stored in a former NATO bunker in the Odenwald and originating from St. Kilian Distillers' exclusive vintage stock.

Cherry, peach, and raisins develop a full sweetness, balanced by toffee, brown sugar, earthy nuances, and gentle oak spice, while subtle peat smoke elegantly envelops everything.

Finish
Jammy fruit sweetness lingers creamy with brown sugar, before dark chocolate, fine herbs, and spicy oak lead into a long finale.

Signature Edition SIXTEEN – Unpeated (only 4,860 bottles available): This edition is entirely dedicated to the rich heritage of Portugal and combines distillates matured in selected Port Wine Tawny, Port Wine Ruby, Madeira, and Moscatel de Setúbal casks. The combination of these noble liqueur wine casks gives the single malt whisky a warm, Mediterranean aroma full of depth and elegance. Bottled at a robust 55.3 % vol, it unfolds a complex spectrum of dark berries, dried fruits, and sweet grape, harmonizing with spicy wood, fine caramel cream, and a hint of Mediterranean lightness. A characterful taste experience – inspired by the sun-drenched wine landscapes of Portugal.

Finish
A velvety-long finish, where fruity-sweet jam notes meet dry grape skins, warm oak, and delicate tannins.
