Five Virgins - Signature Edition Five
The new Single Malt from St. Kilian - for German Whisky Day on 27.6.20
FIVE DIFFERENT OAK CASKS PLAY THE MAIN ROLE IN ST. KILIAN'S SIGNATURE EDITION FIVE
St. Kilian Signature Edition FIVE matured for over 3 years in 5 different virgin oak casks to become a masterful composition. Soft, round aromas and a mild taste of delicately spicy oak convey the feeling of a refreshing walk in the woods.
The blend from 5 different origins of oak casks, from Hungary to Germany to America, invites you on an aromatic journey of discovery.
Since St. Kilian's launch in 2016, the distillery has been extremely experimental, working with great enthusiasm and the support of countless loyal fans to develop a standard whisky. Already during the 'Spirit of St. Kilian' Batch 1-7 series, a lot of valuable feedback was received. At that time, "Batch 2", matured in ex-American White Oak and European Oak casks, was very well received. Now the distillery from Rüdenau wants to emphasize this theme once again and has given 5 "Virgins" a voice in its latest release, the St. Kilian Signature Edition FIVE.
FULL MATURATION IN 5 DIFFERENT VIRGIN OAK CASKS
Five different virgin oaks characterize this limited bottling, which will be released on June 27, 2020, German Whisky Day. Do these "FIVE Virgins" have what it takes to set the direction for a later standard whisky from St. Kilian? The experts and the fan community in Rüdenau are eagerly awaiting the verdict.

ST. KILIAN VISITS KENTUCKY, USA
A few years ago, the St. Kilian team specifically visited a large cask manufacturer in Kentucky to get a personal impression of how much work goes into the production and wood selection of first-class casks. One of the five "virgins" in the FIVE today is the American white oak.

Here's the video from the trip to Kentucky – you can find it on the St. Kilian YouTube channel. There's also much more to discover there:
COMPOSITION OF THE 5 VIRGIN OAKS
When combining the different oak casks, the Master Distiller, Mario Rudolf, did a lot of "finetuning" and showed a lot of sensitivity. The European oak cask, for example, was built as a 190-liter cask in the style of an American barrel and is something unique and absolutely worth mentioning. The "Five" is composed of these casks and cask sizes:

DELICATE SPICY VANILLA AND FRUIT AROMAS
After its two smoky predecessors, the new single malt is again a mild whisky, which, with its 52.5% alcohol content, has a spicy and very aromatic note.
It was distilled between October 2016 and April 2017 and bottled in St. Kilian's original pot-still bottles in April 2020 in a limited quantity of just under 6,000 bottles.
