St. Kilian Distillers Launches Limited Edition Ambassador’s Choice Ex-Rum Bottling with Brand Ambassador Olli Fink

Olli Fink has been serving as Brand Ambassador for St. Kilian Distillers since January 2019. As a native of Schleswig-Holstein, he primarily promotes the brand from Rüdenau, Lower Franconia, in northern Germany, where he also attends various trade fairs. This includes the "Just Whisky Hamburg" fair, which will take place on August 26 and 27 in the old inland port of Hamburg-Harburg. For this occasion, his next limited edition Ambassador's Choice bottling will be released. "My first private cask from St. Kilian was an ex-rum cask with a smoky recipe. Therefore, for this edition, I chose a former rum cask bottling with a mild distillate, so to speak, as a complementary counterpart," says Olli Fink enthusiastically. From the extensive range of over 300 different cask types, which mature under perfect climatic conditions not far from the distillery in former NATO ammunition bunkers – the St. Kilian Bunker City – the brand ambassador selected two special single casks for this mild single malt bottling. Together with Master Distiller Mario Rudolf, the choice fell on two ex-rum casks from Madeira, which were married together.

These 300-liter oak casks previously contained rum produced from molasses on the flower island in the Atlantic Ocean before being emptied and filled with St. Kilian's mild New Make in Rüdenau on September 27, 2017. For this, mild distillate obtained from the processing of Pilsner malt and some darker Munich malt was used. After emptying the two single casks on August 16, 2022, a total of 1,380 bottles of this almost five-year-old "Ambassador's Choice" edition, with an alcohol content of 50.1% Vol. – as always at St. Kilian Distillers without additional coloring or chill-filtration – were filled into the iconic 0.5-liter pot-still bottle. "This mild single malt shines with a bouquet of tropical fruits, peach, coconut, and vanilla. Wonderfully sweet and, in my opinion, dangerously smooth," enthuses Olli Fink. "A mild bottling – exactly as I envisioned it for this occasion," concludes the brand ambassador, satisfied. This full-bodied Ambassador's Choice bottling is now also available on-site at the distillery and in the St. Kilian Distillers online shop.

Aroma
Tropical aromas of pineapple, peach, and juicy honeydew melon, with yellow plum and delicate coconut flakes, develop an exotic fruit bouquet, refined by a hint of oak spice.

Taste
The creamy sweetness of honey, vanilla, and soft toffee is perfectly complemented by the tropical exoticism of ripe peaches, melon, and a touch of pineapple, rounded off with fine oak spice.

Finish
Creamy-sweet jam of yellow plum and pineapple lingers pleasantly long with dark caramel and subtly dry oak notes.
